Punjab batters Emanjot Singh Chahal and Salil Arora scored centuries to secure a first-innings lead of 105 runs against Assam. Despite the strong batting performance, Punjab had to settle for three points in their Ranji Trophy round-one match. Assam's second innings saw them lose wickets rapidly, falling to 36 for three. However, a 57-run partnership between Denish Das and Sibsankar Roy helped them weather the initial storm. Ultimately, Assam managed to hold on, preventing Punjab from achieving an outright victory.
