Global Meat Crisis Looms As Herds Shrink

A global meat crisis is emerging as major producers like Brazil, the US, and China face shrinking cattle herds. Brazil's herd has dropped by nearly 8 percent since 2024, while China's has fallen by 14 percent. This decline in production, coupled with import restrictions and rising feed costs in India, is leading to soaring beef prices. The crisis threatens to impact meat availability and affordability for over 90 percent of the world's population.

दुनिया भर में मांस का संकट गहराता जा रहा है क्योंकि ब्राज़ील, अमेरिका और चीन जैसे बड़े उत्पादक देशों में पशुधन की संख्या घट रही है। ब्राज़ील में 2024 से पशुधन की संख्या लगभग 8 प्रतिशत कम हुई है, जबकि चीन में यह 14 प्रतिशत गिरी है। उत्पादन में इस गिरावट के साथ-साथ भारत में आयात पर लगी पाबंदियों और चारे की बढ़ती कीमतों के कारण बीफ के दाम आसमान छू रहे हैं। यह संकट दुनिया की 90 प्रतिशत से ज़्यादा आबादी के लिए मांस की उपलब्धता और सामर्थ्य को प्रभावित करने की धमकी दे रहा है।
