Punjab BJP Leader Urges Governor for Early Poll Code Implementation

Senior BJP leader Sunil Jakhar has urged Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria to recommend the early implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Jakhar cited a deteriorating law and order situation, pointing to the denial of permission for an annual anti-drug marathon in Abohar as evidence. He argued that early enforcement of the poll code is crucial for ensuring peaceful and fair upcoming assembly elections. The BJP plans to approach the Election Commission directly to demand the same, fearing the situation could worsen under the current government.

भाजपा के वरिष्ठ नेता सुनील जाखड़ ने पंजाब के राज्यपाल गुलाब चंद कटारिया से मॉडल कोड ऑफ कंडक्ट (MCC) को जल्द लागू करने की सिफारिश करने का आग्रह किया है। जाखड़ ने कानून व्यवस्था की बिगड़ती स्थिति का हवाला देते हुए, अबोहर में एक वार्षिक नशामुक्ति मैराथन की अनुमति से इनकार करने का उदाहरण दिया। उन्होंने तर्क दिया कि आगामी विधानसभा चुनावों को शांतिपूर्ण और निष्पक्ष सुनिश्चित करने के लिए चुनाव संहिता का शीघ्र प्रवर्तन महत्वपूर्ण है। भाजपा इसी मांग को लेकर सीधे चुनाव आयोग से संपर्क करने की योजना बना रही है, क्योंकि उन्हें डर है कि मौजूदा सरकार के तहत स्थिति और खराब हो सकती है।
