Hindustan Times · education
IIT Bombay has formed a review committee to strengthen its Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC-ST) cell following the death of a student last month. The committee will suggest changes to make the cell more effective and empowered to act on complaints. Another committee will recommend measures to improve the hostel environment and enhance student mental health support. These steps follow student protests demanding better support for marginalized communities and improved campus facilities. The institute is also hiring 30 temporary counsellors to bolster mental health services.
