63 Crore School Becomes Island, Students Forced To Wade Through Dirty Water

An Atal Residential School in Uttar Pradesh, built at a cost of ₹63 crore, has become a 'waterlogged island' due to administrative oversight and poor planning. Hundreds of students are forced to wade through knee-deep, foul-smelling water to reach their classrooms and hostels every monsoon. Despite being operational since 2023, no permanent drainage system has been implemented by the district administration or construction agency. The school was built on low-lying land without an effective drainage system, causing overflow from the nearby Manorama River to flood the campus.
