India's Stock Market Hierarchy Shifts: Smallcaps Grow, Largecaps Shrink
Economic Times Markets · stocks
India's stock market is experiencing a significant shift as mid- and smallcap companies increase their market share, reaching a record 43.7% in September. Concurrently, the share of the top 100 companies has fallen to 56.3%. This divergence is driven by capital flows, with foreign investors selling largecaps due to global economic factors, while domestic institutions invest more in smaller companies via SIPs. This trend has made smaller companies a larger part of the market, even as largecaps appear more attractively valued.
