Social media platforms like YouTube and Meta have paid over USD 17 billion in lawsuits for allegedly hooking children and misleading the public. Bans on minors accessing these platforms are spreading globally, with over 20 countries considering or enacting restrictions. Research suggests that simply prohibiting access may not effectively improve young people's mental health, despite rising rates of anxiety and depression.
