Bengaluru Lake Suffers Massive Fish Kill Due To Polluted Runoff
The Better India · lifestyle
Thousands of dead fish and a lingering stench have turned Doddagubbi Lake in Bengaluru into a stark reminder of polluted runoff risks. The 125-acre lake is at the centre of a dispute over responsibility for the deaths and carcass removal. Villagers allege neither the Greater Bengaluru Authority nor the Minor Irrigation Department has acted. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board plans notices to Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited, suspecting leachate from a nearby dumping yard caused contamination.
