French School Protests Resume On Small Scale After Holiday Break
Al Jazeera · world
French high school students have resumed protests on a significantly smaller scale following their two-week holiday break. On Monday, only 41 high schools reported blockades, representing about one percent of the country's total. Education Minister Edouard Geffray stated that while protests are permitted, blocking school access is illegal. Students are demanding school renovations, more teachers, and an end to an unfair university admissions system. The government has offered some concessions, including replacing the Parcoursup platform by 2028 and promising additional funding and staff, but student representatives deem these insufficient.
