Heavy Rains Lash Tamil Nadu; Cauvery Delta Farmers Find Showers Inadequate

Times of India · environment

Heavy rains have intensified across Tamil Nadu, particularly in western and southern districts, leading to improved reservoir inflows and waterlogging in low-lying areas. While districts like Theni recorded significant rainfall, farmers in the Cauvery delta region expressed dissatisfaction, stating the showers were insufficient for samba paddy crops. The India Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain warnings and an orange alert for several districts, including Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, and Nilgiris, anticipating more downpours in the coming days. Authorities are monitoring flood-vulnerable locations and have advised residents to take precautions.
