Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag believes Indian cricket's viewership will not significantly decline with the retirements of stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He noted similar concerns were raised when legends Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Sachin Tendulkar retired, yet the sport's popularity endured. Sehwag highlighted that cricket's increasing accessibility through smartphones makes it easier for fans to follow matches now than in previous eras. While acknowledging some individual fans might watch less, he asserted that the game itself remains compelling and will continue to attract viewers.

वीरेंद्र सहवाग का मानना है कि विराट कोहली और रोहित शर्मा जैसे खिलाड़ियों के रिटायर होने से भारतीय क्रिकेट की लोकप्रियता में कोई खास कमी नहीं आएगी। उन्होंने कहा कि सुनील गावस्कर, कपिल देव और सचिन तेंदुलकर के जाने के बाद भी ऐसा ही कहा गया था, पर क्रिकेट का जलवा कायम रहा। सहवाग के मुताबिक, स्मार्टफोन के कारण अब लोग पहले से कहीं ज्यादा आसानी से मैच देख पाते हैं। कुछ लोग शायद कम देखें, लेकिन खेल अपने आप में दमदार है और दर्शकों को खींचता रहेगा।
