Student's Death: Lover Remanded, Homestay Staffer Detained

Gauhati University student Nimisha Thakuria's alleged lover, Ashiq Ali, has been sent to eight days' police remand as authorities investigate her death at a homestay. A homestay employee, Mintu Ali, has also been detained for allegedly facilitating their stay and supplying alcohol. Police have registered a case against Ashiq invoking sections related to wrongful confinement, grievous hurt, gang rape, and murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Nimisha was found unconscious at the homestay and later declared dead at a hospital.

गौहाटी यूनिवर्सिटी की छात्रा निमिशा ठकुरिया के कथित प्रेमी, आशिक अली को आठ दिनों की पुलिस रिमांड पर भेजा गया है, क्योंकि अधिकारी होमस्टे में उसकी मौत की जांच कर रहे हैं। होमस्टे के एक कर्मचारी, मिंटू अली को भी कथित तौर पर उनके ठहरने की व्यवस्था करने और शराब की आपूर्ति करने के आरोप में हिरासत में लिया गया है। पुलिस ने आशिक के खिलाफ भारतीय न्याय संहिता की धाराएं लगाकर मामला दर्ज किया है, जिसमें गलत तरीके से बंधक बनाना, गंभीर चोट पहुंचाना, गैंगरेप और हत्या शामिल हैं। निमिशा को होमस्टे में बेहोश पाया गया था और बाद में अस्पताल में मृत घोषित कर दिया गया था।
