Orangutan Seized In Mumbai Repatriated To Indonesia After Two Years

An orangutan seized from a Mumbai apartment in 2024 is finally being repatriated to Indonesia after a two-year delay. The juvenile orangutan, estimated to be around one year old at the time of seizure, will be sent to a rehabilitation centre in Sumatra. This marks the first successful repatriation of a seized CITES animal from India. Indonesia is also seeking the return of five baby orangutans rescued in Odisha, whose origins are under investigation.

2024 में मुंबई के एक अपार्टमेंट से जब्त किया गया एक ओरंगुटान दो साल की देरी के बाद आखिरकार इंडोनेशिया वापस भेजा जा रहा है। जब्त किए जाने के समय लगभग एक साल का अनुमानित यह किशोर ओरंगुटान सुमात्रा के एक पुनर्वास केंद्र में भेजा जाएगा। यह भारत से जब्त किए गए CITES जानवर का पहला सफल प्रत्यावर्तन है। इंडोनेशिया ओडिशा में बचाए गए पांच शिशु ओरंगुटान की भी वापसी की मांग कर रहा है, जिनकी उत्पत्ति की जांच की जा रही है।
