Telangana Road Deaths Fall, But Pedestrian Fatalities Rise Sharply

Times of India · india

Telangana saw a modest decrease in road fatalities in 2025, with 262 fewer deaths compared to the previous year. However, pedestrian deaths increased from 1,586 to 1,632, now constituting over 20% of all road fatalities. While deaths among vehicle users declined, the combined toll for pedestrians and passengers remained unchanged. Women, particularly pedestrians and passengers, were disproportionately affected, leading to a marginal drop in female fatalities. This trend highlights ongoing risks from speeding and inadequate pedestrian infrastructure.
