Most Women Avoid Breast Cancer Screening Due To Lack Of Symptoms

Times of India · health

A preliminary study from IIT Madras reveals that nearly three in four women surveyed in Chennai have never undergone breast cancer screening. Among those not screened, a significant number cited a lack of symptoms as the primary reason for avoiding the procedure. Awareness of symptoms was also found to be uneven, with many women unable to recognise less obvious signs. Doctors emphasize that screening is crucial for early detection in healthy individuals, not just those with symptoms, to improve outcomes and prevent disease progression.
