Madras High Court Quashes Charge Sheet Against Parents of Main Accused in Kavin Murder Case

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has quashed the charge sheet filed by the CB-CID against Saravanan and Krishnakumari, parents of Surjith, the main accused in the Kavin Selvaganesh caste killing case. Kavin, who belonged to a Scheduled Caste, was murdered on July 27, 2025. The charge sheet alleged that Surjith's parents had knowledge of the relationship and involvement in destroying evidence. However, Justice R. Vijayakumar stated there was insufficient evidence, relying on mobile tower data alone, which he deemed unsafe for proving exact locations.

मद्रास हाई कोर्ट की मदुरै पीठ ने कवीन सेल्वागनेश जाति हत्या मामले के मुख्य आरोपी सुरजीत के माता-पिता, सरवनन और कृष्णाकुमारी के खिलाफ CB-CID द्वारा दायर चार्जशीट को रद्द कर दिया है। कवीन, जो एक अनुसूचित जाति से थे, की 27 जुलाई 2025 को हत्या कर दी गई थी। चार्जशीट में आरोप लगाया गया था कि सुरजीत के माता-पिता को रिश्ते और सबूत नष्ट करने में संलिप्तता की जानकारी थी। हालांकि, जस्टिस आर. विजयकुमार ने कहा कि अपर्याप्त सबूत थे, जो केवल मोबाइल टावर डेटा पर आधारित थे, जिसे उन्होंने सटीक स्थान साबित करने के लिए असुरक्षित माना।
