SC Orders Ex-Tehelka Editor Tarun Tejpal to Surrender

The Supreme Court has directed former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal to surrender within three weeks. The Goa government had opposed his plea for exemption, stating he had not followed proper procedure. Tejpal had not filed a separate application for exemption or provided proof of surrender as required by Supreme Court Rules. Following this, Goa Police registered an FIR against him, indicating further legal action.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पूर्व तेहलका संपादक तरुण तेजपाल को तीन हफ़्तों के अंदर सरेंडर करने का आदेश दिया है। गोवा सरकार ने उनकी छूट की अर्ज़ी का विरोध किया था, कहा था कि उन्होंने सही प्रक्रिया का पालन नहीं किया। तेजपाल ने छूट के लिए अलग से अर्ज़ी नहीं दी थी और न ही सुप्रीम कोर्ट के नियमों के मुताबिक सरेंडर का सबूत दिया था। इसके बाद गोवा पुलिस ने उनके खिलाफ FIR दर्ज की है, जो आगे की कानूनी कार्रवाई का संकेत है।
