KMSCL has started procuring medicines directly from manufacturers, bypassing intermediaries. This move, initiated by the health minister, is expected to save crores of rupees for government hospitals. For instance, insulin costs have dropped from Rs 99.60 to Rs 73 per unit, and erythropoietin injections are now cheaper by at least Rs 30. Medicines for spinal muscular atrophy have seen a significant price reduction from over Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8,000.

KMSCL ने बिचौलियों को दरकिनार कर सीधे निर्माताओं से दवाएं खरीदना शुरू कर दिया है। स्वास्थ्य मंत्री द्वारा शुरू की गई इस पहल से सरकारी अस्पतालों के करोड़ों रुपये बचने की उम्मीद है। उदाहरण के लिए, इंसुलिन की लागत 99.60 रुपये प्रति यूनिट से घटकर 73 रुपये हो गई है, और एरिथ्रोपोइटिन इंजेक्शन कम से कम 30 रुपये सस्ते हो गए हैं। स्पाइनल मस्कुलर एट्रोफी की दवाओं की कीमत 5.5 लाख रुपये से अधिक से घटकर 8,000 रुपये रह गई है।
