A federal judge has dismissed Title IX claims in a lawsuit filed by swimmer Riley Gaines and other female athletes against the NCAA. US District Judge Tiffany R. Johnson ruled that the NCAA cannot be considered a recipient of federal financial assistance, thus making Title IX inapplicable in this case. Gaines and her co-plaintiffs argued that the NCAA violated their rights by allowing transgender athletes to compete in women's events.
