UPI merchant fee change impacts fund costs

Starting October 15, UPI transactions will incur a fee for merchants, though it remains free for users. Fund houses will pay a small charge, estimated at two rupees per lakh annually, if they absorb it. This new fee, which fund houses might pass on through expense ratios, is significantly lower than the existing expense ratios of regular mutual fund plans, which can be over two percent annually.

अक्टूबर से UPI ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर मर्चेंट्स को शुल्क देना होगा, लेकिन यूज़र्स के लिए यह फ्री रहेगा। फंड हाउसेज़ को हर लाख पर सालाना करीब दो रुपये का छोटा शुल्क देना पड़ सकता है, अगर वे इसे खुद भरते हैं। यह नया शुल्क, जिसे फंड हाउसेज़ एक्सपेंस रेश्यो के ज़रिए ग्राहकों से वसूल सकते हैं, रेगुलर म्यूचुअल फंड प्लान के मौजूदा एक्सपेंस रेश्यो से बहुत कम है, जो सालाना दो प्रतिशत से ज़्यादा हो सकता है।
