Israel is set to close the British Consulate in East Jerusalem on Thursday, marking 30 days since the order was issued. This move is a retaliation against the UK's sanctions on illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. Former British consul general Sir Vincent Fean stated that Israel has no right to interfere with diplomatic relations between Palestine and the UK, calling the action unlawful. The closure also raises concerns for the consulate's approximately 15 Palestinian staff members.
