सिंगर राहुल वैद्य का कहना है कि म्यूजिक इंडस्ट्री में बड़ा बदलाव आया है, जहाँ अब फिल्म प्लेबैक सिंगिंग की जगह इंडिपेंडेंट म्यूजिक और लाइव शोज़ ज़्यादा पॉपुलर हो रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि कई ऐसे आर्टिस्ट हैं जिन्होंने ज़्यादातर फिल्म गाने नहीं गाए हैं, लेकिन वे अब दुनिया भर में पॉपुलर हैं और शो कर रहे हैं। वैद्य ने फिल्म म्यूजिक में पावर डायनामिक्स और क्रिएटिव कंट्रोल की कमी की आलोचना की, और कहा कि नॉन-फिल्म गाने आर्टिस्ट्स को ज़्यादा आजादी देते हैं। उन्होंने यह भी सुझाव दिया कि कुछ सिंगर्स को फिल्म में गाने के मौके कम मिलने की वजह से कंपोजर बनना पड़ा, और वे अपनी मर्जी से काम करना पसंद करते हैं।
