Bogong Moth Population Explodes After Decades Of Decline
Hindustan Times · environment
Bogong moths, known for their annual migration and swarming behaviour, have reappeared in remarkable numbers along Australia's east coast this year. This resurgence follows a dramatic population decline of 99 per cent between 2017 and 2019, attributed to habitat destruction, drought, and climate change. Scientists believe two years of high rainfall have created ideal breeding conditions, while strong winds may have pushed them towards Sydney.
