The Uttar Pradesh government has intensified its drive to clean the Gomti River, a vital lifeline for Lucknow. The strategy now focuses on a comprehensive approach, including sewage interception, drain tapping, and increasing treatment capacity, moving beyond simple cleaning exercises. A drone survey identified 45 drains flowing into the river, prompting a wider sewage management plan. The government aims to intercept polluted water before it reaches the Gomti by diverting flows to Sewage Treatment Plants. This initiative is crucial for the health of the river and the expanding city.
