TOI - Delhi · india

Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) will phase out cash transactions exceeding ₹1,000 per purchase, and ₹500. This move aims to reduce cash handling, prevent accounting discrepancies, and address complaints of consumers being charged above the maximum retail price (MRP). Tasmac has instructed district managers to ensure official point-of-sale machines are available at all 4,048 outlets and prohibited employees from using personal UPI QR codes for sales. The directive also reiterates that every sale must be accompanied by a bill.
