UN Report: Adaptation Finance Gap Huge Ahead of COP31

Times of India · environment

A UN Environment Programme report reveals a significant shortfall in climate adaptation finance for developing nations. Even if developed countries triple their support by 2035, it will only cover less than a third of the estimated $305 billion annually needed. Current contributions are only about 10 cents for every dollar required. The report highlights that the world is unprepared for current climate conditions, let alone future warming. Ahead of COP31, negotiators will focus on increasing adaptation finance and addressing institutional barriers to build resilience.
