MSEDCL Threatens Power Cut To Housing Societies Over Smart Meter Installation

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has issued 24-hour notices to two housing societies in Dombivli, threatening to disconnect electricity if residents do not allow smart meter installation. The notices were served to Sai Deep and Indraneel societies, comprising about 80 flats, after residents locked their meter boxes. MSEDCL stated that consumers cannot refuse installation and warned of supply disconnection, citing the Electricity Act, 2003. Despite previous notices, residents have not granted access, leading to the final warning.
