Margaret Owen, a 94-year-old Jewish human rights barrister, was arrested in Liverpool while attending a rally outside the Labour Party conference. She had been attempting to get arrested for months by attending protests and displaying signs supporting Palestine Action. Merseyside Police confirmed 82 people were arrested at the protest for supporting a proscribed organisation. Owen stated her desire to be arrested to lend authority to the civil disobedience campaign. Palestine Action aims to counter alleged Israeli war crimes and British complicity.
