Air India has received approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to establish its flying academy at Belora Airport in Amravati, Maharashtra. This marks the first such academy by an Indian airline and will operate 31 single-engine and three twin-engine aircraft for pilot training. The 10-acre facility will feature digitally enabled classrooms, accommodation, and a dedicated maintenance facility. The academy aims to bolster pilot training capacity, support India's expanding aviation sector, and contribute to a more self-reliant aviation ecosystem.
