Parts of Hyderabad experienced unpredicted rains and thunderstorms during Tuesday evening's rush hour, surprising residents. The weather had been sunny until late afternoon. The India Meteorological Department issued an update at 5:08 p.m. predicting light to moderate rain and thundershowers with winds up to 40 kmph in Greater Hyderabad within two hours. Many people and motorists scrambled for shelter as the sudden downpour began.
