Health authorities in Thrissur are on alert after 10 Shigella infections were reported in the first nine days of October. Seven cases, including a seven-month-old child, were linked to a temple festival in Tholur, with the infection source identified as the temple well used for rituals. The well has since been chlorinated, and affected individuals are recovering. This outbreak occurs amid a wider surge in fever cases, with thousands treated and hundreds of dengue and leptospirosis cases confirmed across the district.
