Panchayat Secretary Arrested in Nilgiris For Accepting Rs 20,000 Bribe

A panchayat secretary in Tamil Nadu's Nilgiris district has been arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) for allegedly accepting a bribe. A. Karthick, 35, secretary of Ithalar panchayat, was caught red-handed accepting Rs 20,000 from a contractor. The bribe was demanded for processing a bill of Rs 6.90 lakh for water tank construction work. The contractor had initially complained to the DVAC after Karthick demanded 5% of the bill amount. Karthick has been remanded to judicial custody.

तमिलनाडु के नीलगिरि जिले में एक पंचायत सचिव को सतर्कता और भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक निदेशालय (DVAC) ने कथित तौर पर रिश्वत स्वीकार करने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया है। इथलर पंचायत के सचिव, 35 वर्षीय ए. कार्तिक को एक ठेकेदार से 20,000 रुपये की रिश्वत लेते हुए रंगे हाथों पकड़ा गया। यह रिश्वत पानी की टंकी निर्माण कार्य के 6.90 लाख रुपये के बिल को प्रोसेस करने के लिए मांगी गई थी। ठेकेदार ने कार्तिक द्वारा बिल राशि का 5% मांगने के बाद शुरू में DVAC से शिकायत की थी। कार्तिक को न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया है।
