Haryana Power Plant Emitted PM 38.8 Times Limit, Faces ₹31.46 Crore Penalty

Particulate matter emissions from one unit of Haryana's Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Project were found to be 38.8 times the prescribed limit. The Central Pollution Control Board has assessed an interim environmental compensation of ₹31.46 crore for the period between February 10 and June 15. Unit 2 recorded emissions of 1,939 mg/Nm³, significantly exceeding the 50 mg/Nm³ standard. The plant, classified as highly polluting, has been given 15 days to show cause why the penalty should not be imposed.

हरियाणा के दीनबंधु छोटू राम थर्मल पावर प्रोजेक्ट की एक यूनिट से पार्टिकुलेट मैटर का उत्सर्जन निर्धारित सीमा से 38.8 गुना ज्यादा पाया गया। केंद्रीय प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड ने 10 फरवरी से 15 जून की अवधि के लिए ₹31.46 करोड़ के अंतरिम पर्यावरण मुआवजे का आकलन किया है। यूनिट 2 में 1,939 mg/Nm³ उत्सर्जन दर्ज किया गया, जो 50 mg/Nm³ के मानक से काफी अधिक है। अत्यधिक प्रदूषण फैलाने वाले इस प्लांट को 15 दिनों के भीतर यह बताने के लिए कहा गया है कि जुर्माना क्यों न लगाया जाए।
