Panjab University Workers Protest Salary Delays For Third Time in Six Months

Hindustan Times · education

Multitasking staff at Panjab University protested outside the registrar's office on Tuesday due to repeated salary delays, which they claim occur for two to three months at a time despite their low monthly earnings of ₹10,000 to ₹12,000. This marks the third such demonstration in the past six to seven months. Workers highlighted that salaries, due by the seventh of each month, are often late, forcing them to borrow money. Concerns were also raised about contractual workers' alleged neglect, potential non-regularisation after long service, and gender-based wage disparities.
