A 440-year-old Elizabethan mansion, Barlborough Hall, is set to be auctioned on September 30 with a guide price of £550,000–£600,000. Dating back to 1583, the Grade I-listed property near Chesterfield, Derbyshire, spans nearly 16,000 square feet and includes 14 acres of land. It was built for judge Sir Francis Rodes and potentially designed by architect Robert Smythson. The historic hall was formerly occupied by Mount St Mary’s College, which closed last year.
