Justice Madhu Jain dismissed a woman's petition, stating that mere familial relationship is insufficient to invoke the Act. The court clarified that allegations of insult or abuse require specific factual support, not just conclusions. It emphasized that a father is not responsible for his son's misconduct unless he actively participates in it.

दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट ने फैसला सुनाया है कि एक ससुर को केवल अपने बालिग बेटे के कामों को नियंत्रित करने में विफल रहने के लिए घरेलू हिंसा अधिनियम के तहत उत्तरदायी नहीं ठहराया जा सकता है। जस्टिस मधु जैन ने एक महिला की याचिका खारिज कर दी, जिसमें कहा गया था कि अधिनियम को लागू करने के लिए केवल पारिवारिक संबंध अपर्याप्त है। अदालत ने स्पष्ट किया कि अपमान या दुर्व्यवहार के आरोपों के लिए केवल निष्कर्षों के बजाय विशिष्ट तथ्यात्मक समर्थन की आवश्यकता होती है। इस बात पर जोर दिया गया कि पिता अपने बेटे के कदाचार के लिए जिम्मेदार नहीं है जब तक कि वह इसमें सक्रिय रूप से भाग न ले।
