Indian Army Considers Extending Service For Agniveers Beyond Four Years

The Indian government is seriously considering extending the service period for some Agniveers recruited under the Agnipath Scheme, beyond their initial four-year tenure. High-level meetings have been held to discuss this proposal, as the first batch of Agniveers nears the completion of their term. While 25% of Agniveers are eligible for permanent absorption, the government is exploring options to retain additional personnel who may not secure permanent roles.
