Supreme Court to Hear Plea Against EC's Move to Enrol Deleted Delhi Voters

The Supreme Court will hear a plea on October 28 challenging the Election Commission of India's decision to enrol deleted Delhi voters as new ones. RTI activist Anjali Bharadwaj filed the application, arguing that requiring deleted voters to apply as new ones, using Form 6 with a false declaration, lacks statutory backing. The court noted the urgency as the deadline for claims and objections is October 30. Over 4.7 million electors were excluded from Delhi's draft roll during a special revision.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट 28 अक्टूबर को चुनाव आयोग के हटाए गए दिल्ली के मतदाताओं को नए मतदाताओं के रूप में नामांकित करने के फैसले को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका पर सुनवाई करेगा। आरटीआई कार्यकर्ता अंजलि भारद्वाज ने यह आवेदन दायर किया है, जिसमें तर्क दिया गया है कि हटाए गए मतदाताओं को फॉर्म 6 के साथ झूठा घोषणापत्र भरकर नए के रूप में आवेदन करने की आवश्यकता में वैधानिक समर्थन का अभाव है। अदालत ने दावा और आपत्तियों की समय सीमा 30 अक्टूबर होने के कारण तात्कालिकता पर ध्यान दिया। विशेष संशोधन के दौरान दिल्ली की मसौदा सूची से 4.7 मिलियन से अधिक मतदाताओं को बाहर रखा गया था।
