Millions of young Indian graduates face an uncertain future after college, often turning to gig work like food delivery due to a lack of clear career paths. While Germany successfully integrates youth through a dual apprenticeship model, India's National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme struggles. Despite over 7 million vacant apprenticeship positions, applications have plummeted from 42.8 lakh in 2022 to just over 4 lakh in 2025. This decline is attributed to low stipends, lack of job guarantees, and the immediate financial returns of gig work compared to long-term apprenticeships.

लाखों युवा भारतीय ग्रेजुएट कॉलेज के बाद अनिश्चित भविष्य का सामना कर रहे हैं, अक्सर स्पष्ट करियर पथ की कमी के कारण फूड डिलीवरी जैसे गिग वर्क की ओर रुख करते हैं। जहाँ जर्मनी एक दोहरे अप्रेंटिसशिप मॉडल के माध्यम से युवाओं को सफलतापूर्वक एकीकृत करता है, वहीं भारत की नेशनल अप्रेंटिसशिप प्रमोशन स्कीम संघर्ष कर रही है। 70 लाख से अधिक खाली अप्रेंटिसशिप पदों के बावजूद, आवेदन 2022 में 42.8 लाख से घटकर 2025 में केवल 4 लाख से कुछ अधिक रह गए हैं। इस गिरावट का श्रेय कम स्टाइपेंड, नौकरी की गारंटी की कमी और लंबी अवधि के अप्रेंटिसशिप की तुलना में गिग वर्क से तत्काल वित्तीय रिटर्न को दिया जाता है।
