Serbia's Police Chief Arrested Post-Election For Abuse of Office

Serbia's criminal police directorate chief, Marko Kricak, has been arrested and charged with abuse of office. He is accused of suppressing and manipulating an investigation into a gangland murder that occurred in May. Kricak, a loyalist of the recently defeated President Aleksandar Vucic, was also accused of brutality against anti-Vucic demonstrators. Prosecutors stated the arrest is unrelated to Vucic's election defeat, though it is seen as a sign of the former regime's influence eroding.
