India to Overtake Japan, UK by 2027, IMF Projects; 5 Trillion Economy Delayed

TV9 Hindi · business

India's economy is projected to become the world's fourth largest by 2027, surpassing Japan and the UK, according to the IMF's World Economic Outlook. However, the nation's goal of achieving a 5 trillion dollar economy has been pushed back by one year, now expected in 2029 instead of 2028. This delay is attributed to the depreciation of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar, which impacts the dollar-denominated GDP calculation. Despite the setback in dollar terms, India's economic output in Rupee terms has seen an increase.
