TV9 Hindi · politics
A decades-old border dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha over the Kotia Gram Panchayat has resurfaced with local body elections. Odisha protested Andhra Pradesh's elections, deploying police and sealing a polling station. Andhra Pradesh relocated the center, where over 30 tribal residents voted. The dispute involves 21 villages within Kotia Panchayat, claimed by both states, affecting approximately 5,000 tribal residents. The Supreme Court had previously ordered a status quo in 2006, but the conflict persists, with Odisha filing a new petition in January 2022 alleging violations.
