836 MBBS Seats Remain Vacant In Deemed Universities Due To Sky-High Fees

A significant number of 836 MBBS seats have remained unfilled in deemed universities across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry following the final counselling round. These seats, with annual fees ranging from ₹23 lakh to ₹35 lakh, went vacant despite over 11 lakh candidates qualifying for NEET. The high cost is cited as the primary reason, pricing out many aspiring students. Experts suggest the Union ministry should cap fees in deemed universities to prevent such vacancies and ensure more doctors are available.
