St. Johns County in Florida has inaugurated its State Road 207 Water Reclamation Facility, a $191.8 million project, the largest capital improvement in its history. The plant treats wastewater into reclaimed water for irrigation, aiming to reduce reliance on the Floridan Aquifer, Northeast Florida's primary drinking water source. This initiative is crucial amid ongoing drought conditions and water shortage orders in the region. The facility will prevent over one million pounds of nutrient pollution from entering the Matanzas River over the next two decades.
