This decline followed the Supreme Court's strong concerns regarding the significant mark-ups on medicines sold through corporate hospitals. The court questioned a tenfold difference between procurement and MRP for a cancer drug and considered a uniform 16% margin on all medicines. These practices place a burden on patients and taxpayers, especially those under government schemes, and are now under intense scrutiny.
