Maharashtra HIV Response Sees Six Districts Achieve 'Surakshit' Status

Times of India · health

Maharashtra has made significant strides in its HIV response, with six districts, Dhule, Nandurbar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Chandrapur, and Sangli, achieving the 'Surakshit' status by meeting all three WHO 95:95:95 targets. This initiative, launched in April, aims to bring all 36 districts into this category. 'Surakshit' status means 95% of people living with HIV know their status, 95% receive antiretroviral therapy, and 95% on treatment achieve viral suppression. Another 23 districts have advanced to the 'Saksham' category, meeting two of the three targets, demonstrating progress in the continuum of HIV care.
