Sensex Falls For 4th Day Amid Volatile Trades; Midcaps Hit Hard

Times of India · stocks

Indian stock markets experienced significant volatility on Friday, with the Sensex and Nifty closing marginally lower. The Sensex fell 126 points to 73,124, while the Nifty closed 88 points down at 22,600. However, midcap and smallcap stocks faced heavy selling, with the BSE midcap index down 2.2% and the smallcap index down 2.5%. Rising crude oil prices to a near six-month high and a weakening rupee to 94.93 against the dollar weighed on investor sentiment. Analysts noted that continued geopolitical tensions could keep crude prices elevated, impacting market risk appetite.
