Engineering leaders report that security, compliance, and code reviews have become major bottlenecks, outpacing code generation. The unpredictable costs associated with AI token consumption and a lack of transparency in AI actions further complicate adoption. Furthermore, the diverse and unreproducible workflows developed by individual engineers create lock-in issues, making it difficult to adopt newer models. The focus is shifting from writing code to ensuring machine-generated code is correct, safe, and explainable.
