The Baitarani River in Odisha's Jajpur district has risen above the danger mark due to heavy rainfall influenced by Cyclone Arnab. A 60-foot breach has reopened on the Kani River, a tributary, affecting two panchayats so far, with more expected as floodwaters spread. Authorities anticipate water levels may recede by tomorrow and are arranging dry rations and community kitchens for affected residents. This fresh flooding occurs as Odisha remains on alert for heavy rain from a weather system over the Bay of Bengal.
