Insurer Ordered To Pay Rs 52.6 Lakh

A consumer commission has directed New India Assurance to pay Rs 52.6 lakh to a restaurant owner whose establishment was destroyed by fire in 2011. The insurer had initially offered a lower settlement, which the owner disputed. The commission ruled the insurer's depreciation calculation was unjustified and the settlement inadequate, ordering the full payment after a 15-year wait for the owner.

नई दिल्ली: एक उपभोक्ता आयोग ने न्यू इंडिया एश्योरेंस को एक रेस्टोरेंट मालिक को 52.6 लाख रुपये का भुगतान करने का आदेश दिया है। 2011 में आग लगने से रेस्टोरेंट तबाह हो गया था। बीमा कंपनी ने शुरू में कम रकम देने की पेशकश की थी, जिसे मालिक ने स्वीकार नहीं किया। आयोग ने कहा कि बीमा कंपनी की मूल्यह्रास गणना गलत थी और भुगतान अपर्याप्त था। मालिक को 15 साल के इंतजार के बाद अब पूरी रकम मिलेगी।
